Japanese Doll Museum · Japanese Maneki-neko Museum
Shizuoka has been known since the Edo period as a center for hina dolls and related accessories. Their dazzling costumes and intricate craftsmanship are the result of traditions passed down by artisans who gathered in the town of Sunpu. The museum houses and displays dolls and toys—including hina dolls, seasonal dolls, and maneki-neko—that require high levels of craftsmanship, spanning from the Edo period to the present day, along with related materials. We also hold special exhibitions featuring New Year’s decorations and hagoita, Boys’ Day items, miniatures, mechanical toys, and Christmas decorations.
