Site of Lord Tokugawa Yoshinobu's Residence · Ukigetsuro

Kaiseki cuisine inspired by the 24 solar terms, served at the place where the last shogun spent his final years

This historic Japanese restaurant stands on the site of the former residence where Tokugawa Yoshinobu, the last shogun of the Edo shogunate, spent more than 20 years following the turbulent Bakumatsu period and the Restoration of Imperial Rule.

Although located in the heart of the city, just a 3-minute walk from Shizuoka Station, once you step through the gate, a different world unfolds—a place once hailed as “the finest garden in the Tokai region.”

Its greatest attraction is the stroll-style garden with a pond, designed by Jihei Ogawa, a pioneer of modern Japanese gardens.

Named “Ukigetsuro” because Prince Yoshinobu once admired the moon reflecting on the water here, its charming landscape has been designated a National Registered Monument.

Today, it offers special experiences as a traditional Japanese restaurant, fine dining venue, and wedding venue.

The Japanese cuisine, which incorporates the “Twenty-Four Solar Terms” to delicately reflect the changing seasons, is a feast for the eyes and a masterpiece worthy of a special occasion or a treat for yourself.

Surrender yourself to the scenery beloved by the last shogun and the quiet passage of time, and enjoy a luxurious moment savoring the four seasons with all five senses.
