Site of the Sumpu Castle Keep

To gather academic data on the size, location, and state of preservation of the castle keep foundations, we conducted excavation surveys over a six-year period from fiscal year 2016 to fiscal year 2021. The surveys revealed castle keep foundations dating from two distinct periods—the late Sengoku period and the Edo period—as well as a large quantity of gold-leaf roof tiles. Visitors can now view the impressive castle keep foundations from both periods simultaneously.
