Meiji no tunnel
Meiji Tunnel opened in 1876 in Utsunoya-Touge that connects Shizuoka City and Fujieda City Okabe-cho. As a precious cultural heritage of the Meiji era, in 1997 the ”Meiji Utsunoya tunnel” became the first active tunnel to be registered as a tangible cultural property. It is also known as the first toll tunnel in Japan.
