“Our Renoir: The Painter of Happiness Beloved by Japan,” on view at the Shizuoka City Art Museum. This exhibition brings together 39 works by Renoir from the collections of Japanese museums, corporations, and private individuals. Alongside these masterpieces, which radiate brightness and a sense of happiness, the exhibition also highlights the influence Renoir had on modern Japanese Western-style painters such as Ryuzaburo Umehara and Shintaro Yamashita.Furthermore, the exhibition will feature works by his contemporaries, including Monet, Sisley, and Cézanne. How did Renoir—once a distant French painter—come to be loved in Japan and become such a familiar figure to us? We trace this journey through a collection of masterpieces. We invite you to visit the exhibition and enjoy the light, color, and charm of “happiness” as depicted by Renoir.

[Hours] 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. (Last admission to the exhibition galleries is 30 minutes before closing)

[Closed] Every Monday *However, the museum will be open on Monday, October 12 (a national holiday), and closed the following day, Tuesday, October 13

[Admission Fees] General: 1,600 yen; High School and College Students, and Seniors 70 and older: 1,200 yen; Middle School Students and younger: Free
