Southern Alps UNESCO Eco-Park Museum
Enjoy a spectacular view from the theater and a game meat lunch at the school building overlooking Lake Ikawa
In July 2025, a long-awaited new attraction opened in the Ikawa district, the gateway to the Southern Alps.
The former Ikawa Elementary School building, which had been closed, was renovated and reborn as a museum where visitors can experience the nature and culture of the Southern Alps, with its range of 3,000-meter-high peaks.
The highlight is the “Large-Scale Panorama Theater,” which offers an overwhelmingly immersive experience.
The breathtaking views from above the clouds—visible only to mountaineers—and the stunning imagery of rare alpine plants are a must-see.
After your tour, head to the restaurant overlooking the emerald-green Lake Ikawa.
Enjoy the flavors of nature—such as the “Game Burger,” which captures the essence of the Oksizu forest—that can only be found here, all while taking in the breathtaking scenery.
