Sumpu Workshop: Takumi-shuku Special Exhibition “WAZA+ Exhibition”

Traditional Techniques Passed Down in Shizuoka and Contemporary Furniture

This exhibition traces the history of Shizuoka furniture and showcases chairs from successive generations of Kiritsugi Woodworking, raw materials before they become finished products, models and prototypes, as well as the processing and finishing stages. Additionally, through displays that combine contemporary craftworks with furniture, visitors can see how the techniques cultivated over generations in Shizuoka are connected to today’s furniture and daily life.The techniques and time invested behind the scenes—aspects that are often difficult to discern from finished furniture alone. We invite you to view Shizuoka furniture from a slightly different perspective than usual.
