Umegashima Onsen: Oyu no Furusato Park

Umegashima Onsen is located in the upper reaches of the Abe River. This park is situated within the hot spring town. It stands on the site of Umegashima Onsen’s former public bathhouse, and natural sulfur springs—which remain the source of the hot springs—still flow from the mountain within the park.Halfway up the mountain, reached by climbing a flight of stairs, stands Yuno Shrine, and behind it lies “Anaburo,” a cave where the spring water gushes forth. Sulphur-rich water at 39 degrees Celsius drips down the entire surface of the cave’s rock walls inside Anaburo. Anaburo is usually closed off with a glass door for hygiene reasons.
