Abe's Great Waterfall
This is Abe no Otaki, selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls. Located in the headwaters of the Abe River, it lies along a popular hiking trail in the Umegashima district; it takes about an hour to reach the Otaki observation deck from the prefectural road (Umegashima Kaido).
Abe no Otaki boasts a drop of approximately 90 meters and a width of about 4 meters, making it the largest waterfall in the Abe Okucho area. If you go close to the pool at the base of the falls, you can feel the spray on your body and truly appreciate the waterfall’s grandeur.
