Shitajima-en
A tea farm in the mountains of the Tamagawa district, located upstream on the Abe River, with a history spanning seven generations
A 45-minute drive from Shizuoka Station.
Shitajimaen is located in the mountainous Tamagawa district along the upper reaches of the Abe River. You can learn about tea production while walking through the lush, sloping tea fields.
Next to the tea fields lies a wasabi field designated as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS) site, where you can optionally participate in a wasabi harvesting experience.
Please enjoy tea grown by the owner—a past winner of tea competitions—while gazing at the mountains from the veranda of a 200-year-old traditional Japanese house.
