UNESCO Eco Park "Minami-Alps" is in Shizuoka City too.

Minami-Alps, Oku-oi

The "Minami-Alps", also called "Akaishi Mountains", is a mountainous area rich with nature that is in harmony with human society through preservation of the ecosystem. It was designated a "UNESCO Eco Park (Biosphere Reserves)" in 2014.

The "Ikawa District" is located at the most northern part of Shizuoka City. It is not located in Abe River that flows through Shizuoka City, but in the upstream area of Oi River that flows through Kahane-Honcho Town and Shimada City. The forestry industry once thrived here, but now the hydroelectric power business operates there.
