Shizuoka Prefecture Earthquake Disaster Prevention Center
"This disaster prevention education facility opened in 1989 with the aim of raising disaster preparedness awareness among residents and promoting knowledge and technical skills to cope with the Tokai Earthquake. Since then, as disasters have become more frequent and severe across the country, we have completely revamped our exhibits based on lessons learned from recent disasters and new findings, and reopened in June 2020.
The center provides detailed and easy-to-understand information on how earthquakes occur, how to prepare in advance, and the risks of wind and water-related disasters as well as volcanic hazards. Through our exhibits and hands-on activities, we invite you to learn about disasters accurately, understand the importance of being prepared, and take appropriate action."
