"The Statue of the Mother and Child in Red Shoes" at the Summit of Nihondaira

The girl and her mother from "The Red Shoes"—a song with lyrics by Ujo Noguchi and music by Chosei Motoi that has been beloved by many—were originally from what is now Shimizu Ward in Shizuoka City. Using donations from across the country, the "Red Shoes Mother and Child Statue" was erected on the summit of Nihondaira, overlooking Shimizu.
