Yui Honjin Park
Honjin Park is located in the heart of Yui. It is said that during the Edo period, Yui-juku was a bustling hub, home to one honjin (an inn where feudal lords stayed), one waki-honjin, and 32 ryokan inns. The main gate, stone walls, wooden fences, and horse watering troughs evoke the atmosphere of that era, making the park a valuable experiential zone for learning about the local culture and way of life. The “Tokaido Yui-juku Exchange Center” within the park consists of three areas—Culture, Tourism, and Rest—and serves as a multipurpose facility where visitors can learn about Yui’s history, access tourist information, and interact with the local community.Additionally, “Gokotei” is a detached room where Emperor Meiji once rested, and it has been restored as the Yui Honjin Memorial Hall. It is a traditional Japanese-style building featuring a tea room called “Yujinsai” and a water room, offering a relaxing place to unwind.
