Satta Pass

A breathtaking spot where Hiroshige’s depiction of Mount Fuji meets the city’s modern thoroughfares

Satta Pass is known worldwide as the setting for Utagawa Hiroshige’s masterpiece ukiyo-e print, “The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō: Yui, Satta Pass.”

From the observation deck, a unique panorama unfolds: the majestic Mount Fuji, the sparkling blue waters of Suruga Bay, and the major transportation arteries—the Tomei Expressway, National Route 1, and the JR lines—weaving together below.

The timeless presence of Mount Fuji and the ceaseless flow of modern logistics.

Please enjoy to your heart’s content this mysterious collaboration transcending time and space, viewed from what was once known as “Edo’s Perilous Pass.”

Access is excellent, with the observation deck just a 2-minute walk from the parking lot.

It is also a delight to walk the hiking trail, feel the history and nature, and let your imagination wander along the ancient paths once traversed by travelers.

*Please be aware of wild animals such as bears on this nature-rich walking trail. (Please check the Shizuoka City website for the latest sighting information and access restrictions.)
