Tetsushuji Temple

This temple is one of the Suruga Seven Kannon (Abe Seven Kannon), and it is said that the renowned monk Gyoki enshrined a statue of the Thousand-Armed Kannon here during the Heian period. Originally located at the summit of Mount Kunō—where Kunōzan Tōshō-gū now stands—it was known as “Kunō-ji.” However, it was relocated to its current site by Takeda Shingen. After falling into disrepair by the end of the Edo period, it was restored by Yamaoka Tesshū and renamed “Tesshū-ji.”

Currently, only the temple grounds are open to the public. However, entry to the main hall and the treasure hall is prohibited. (As of January 28, 2025)
