The Takumi-yado Workshop in Sunpu

One of Japan's largest facilities for experiencing traditional crafts

One of Japan’s largest traditional craft experience facilities, built around the concept of “a place that connects history and the future.”

It brings together the finest examples of Shizuoka’s diverse crafts, including Suruga bamboo weaving and dyeing, traditions passed down from the Imagawa and Tokugawa eras.

Each workshop is led by master artisans who are active on the front lines of their fields.

The greatest appeal is the opportunity to learn about traditional crafts through hands-on experiences and create a one-of-a-kind piece with your own hands.

This irreplaceable hands-on experience is sure to become a cherished memory.

After your workshop, visit the gallery showcasing the brilliance of master craftsmanship or the shop where you can discover “lifetime treasures” to enrich your daily life.
