Mihoshi Shrine
A shrine associated with the Legend of the Feathered Robe, which has watched over the Miho area since ancient times
This shrine, associated with the legend of the Feathered Robe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has watched over the Miho region since ancient times. According to legend, a celestial maiden fluttered her feathered robe as she descended to earth at the Feathered Robe Pine, and it is said that fragments of the robe are still preserved there today. It is a place where you can experience Japan’s natural beliefs and history.
The approximately 500-meter-long avenue of pine trees connecting the shrine to the Hagoromo Pine is known as the “Path of the Gods” and is revered as a sacred approach.
It is a famous spot for cherry blossoms in spring and is also popular as a power spot for marital harmony and matchmaking.

Miho Matsubara
[World Heritage Site] A spectacular view that symbolizes Japan, created by the interplay of Mount Fuji, sandy beaches, and pine forests
Miho Matsubara is a sacred pine forest stretching along the Pacific coast of the Miho Peninsula. It is home to an estimated 30,000 pine trees spread over approximately 5 kilometers and is a component part of the World Heritage site “Mount Fuji—Object of Worship and Source of Art.” Since ancient times, it has been a place of worship for the Japanese people, who have revered Mount Fuji as a deity, and has been depicted in numerous waka poems and ukiyo-e prints. The breathtaking view of the green pines, white waves, and the majestic Mount Fuji continues to captivate visitors.
Also nearby are Miho Shrine, a popular “power spot,” and the 500-meter-long pine-lined path known as “Kami no Michi” (Path of the Gods), which is said to be the route taken by deities descending to the Hagoromo Pine. Walking along this path is sure to leave you feeling refreshed. Bicycle paths have been established in the surrounding area, and we highly recommend renting a bike to cycle around the Miho Peninsula.
