A valuable traditional Japanese house that preserves the history of Shimizu Port’s development

The "Suehiro" Boat House is a facility where visitors can learn about Shimizu Jirocho, a figure indispensable to the port town of Shimizu. Here, you can discover the history of Shimizu Jirocho—who began as a local hero and leader of the yakuza underworld—and his efforts to revitalize Shimizu Port in his later years. This valuable facility brings to life the story of Jirocho, who lived through the Bakumatsu and Meiji periods, and the history of Shimizu Port.
